Jason Searfoss, CFO, Co-founder

Jason Searfoss is Chief Financial Officer and a co-founder of Boomtown Accelerators.

Jason utilizes his experiences with creatively structuring and negotiating complex transactions and investments to help companies of all sizes innovate, secure commercial partnerships, and scale both organically and acquisitively.

He oversees all financial matters of the firm, serves as the fund manager for Boomtown’s investment funds, and is an active investor in and advisor to numerous startup and growth-stage technology companies.

Before joining Boomtown, Jason was the Chief Financial Officer, a General Partner, and member of the Investment Committee of Longford Capital, a private equity fund specializing in commercial litigation finance.  Jason was responsible for building the firm’s financial and accounting infrastructure and functionality, including management and oversight of third-party service providers, and helped grow a zero-asset concept into one of the world’s largest and most successful commercial litigation funds.

Jason also served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Technology Infrastructure Services in the Americas for The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a leading U.K. bank holding company. He also held positions of increasing responsibility at GE, where he was a Vice President of the Franchise Finance division within GE Capital; AEGON, where he founded and ran the firm’s fund-linked structured products business; Samsung, where he worked within the Chairman’s office to advise the chaebol’s financial services companies; and JPMorgan Chase.

At JPMorgan Chase, Jason worked with a proprietary investing team to manage a $4+ billion asset-backed securities portfolio, including $700+ million high-yield (BB – equity) Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities book collateralized by over $30 billion in real estate. Jason also served as the _de facto_ CFO and COO of a private Real Estate Investment Trust, which acquired, hedged, and liquidated over $3 billion in performing and non-performing residential mortgages.

Jason received an MBA with concentrations in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Kenyon College. He is a recipient of The National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award for superior academic and athletic performance, leadership, and community service.

Jason is a competitive ultramarathon runner, having completed races of up to 122 miles and self-supported adventure runs of up to 175 miles in distance. He and his family live in Boulder, Colorado.
