What used to be the stuff of science fiction — talking to your refrigerator, adjusting your thermostat from your phone — is now a reality. The Internet of Things has merged our physical world with the digital one. Analysts predict more than 20 billion devices will be connected to the internet over the next decade, generating more than $14 trillion across multiple industries. Isn’t it time you plugged in?
Bridging the gap between hardware and software requires having a way to turn pipe dreams into reality. The Connectivity Lab gives entrepreneurs a sandbox for imagining, developing, testing, and launching tomorrow’s connected devices, today. In the Connectivity Lab, entrepreneurs and inventors get access to the latest hardware, operating platforms, tools, industry expertise, and other essential resources for building innovative products and services.
The Lab is free for all entrepreneurs that would benefit from use of the space. If you’re working on an IoT hardware product, this lab was built for you. We have an application in place to vet your company and make sure that we are able to support you and your idea, as well as ensure the safety of the lab and other lab users.
Lab users have access to:
Lulzbot TAZ 5 3D printer
Circuit Board Assembly Microscope
Digital Power Supplies
Adobe Design Suite and more.
The Lab exists to serve the entrepreneur, so we are constantly taking requests from the teams using the workspace for new equipment that would benefit them and others. If you have specific inquiries about equipment, reach out to email@example.com.
No. Any early-stage startup operating in the IoT industry is eligible to use the Lab.
The Lab is open 9-5, Monday through Friday. Teams using the Lab are welcome to come and go as they choose over a four-month period, keeping monthly check-ins with the Boomtown team. At the end of that period, teams are welcome to apply for an extension.
The Lab is always looking for leaders in the space who are interested in supporting the startup community. Whether you are a mentor, sponsor, or vendor, reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how you’d like to be involved.
The lab provides all the resources a fast-moving, connected hardware startup could need — from great debugging tools, 3D printers, and software, to fast-paced startup culture and great people.
