New Retail Sportsbook at Reds’ Great American Ball Park

It's the second such location for BetMGM

Sports betting is booming along — nearly 30 states now allow gambling on sports in some form, whether in-person or online.

One key development is the blending of legal sports betting while attending live events. BetMGM announced recently it will open a retail sportsbook in Cincinnati at Great American Ball Park’s Machine Room, a left-field corner restaurant space accessible from a stadium plaza — but not from within the ballpark, to meet MLB restrictions.

The sports book operator will have high exposure at the ballpark, with an outfield wall sign, a rotating spot behind home plate and a branded foul line for some games. It’ll offer customers VIP experiences through its suite and club seats and on-field opportunities during batting practice.

The Great American Ball Park location will be BetMGM’s second retail sportsbook near an MLB park. It opened at Nationals Park in D.C. in time for the most recent Super Bowl.

Ohio is scheduled to launch sports wagering in January. Superbook holds a license to open retail at FC Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium.

Betting is one of the investment categories in Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech.
